About Me

Born to parents in creative industries, my father a sculptor and lighting designer and my mother a folk rock and jazz singer, I lived in the West Village of NYC until the age of 12.  We then moved to Barcelona where I continued my education while exposed to the architectural splendors of Gaudí and spending countless hours in museums studying the works Picasso and Miró. Upon graduating, I moved to Paris and began a career as a model, working with designers such as Kenzo, Dior, and Thierry Mugler. It was then, wearing beautiful couture clothing, that my appreciation for fashion, design, and structure was ignited forever. As I traveled throughout Europe, I built an enormous top-of-the-line inventory of vintage clothing, which led me to conceive and design my own store, Darrow Vintage Clothing & Antiques, in the Flatiron District of NYC. I provided costumes for Film and TV and shopped for the most discerning vintage mavens including Julia Roberts, Kate Moss, Iman, and Ralph Lauren.

My evolution continued as I began to focus on interiors, building a career as a home stager, designer and color consultant. I have an appreciation for and have worked on a wide range of homes; Victorians on the Hudson, a 1920s bungalow in Vermont, Arts and Crafts gardens in Rockland County, Mid-Century Modern homes, and palatial estates in Seattle.

For me, being a designer is more than just having a job that I love. I feel I have an intuitive gift to walk in my clients' shoes, and a positive outlook that can facilitate letting go and trusting somebody to help you make easy choices when moving. The process of selling your house and downsizing or relocating is a challenging transition which can be so overwhelming. I can come into your house and lay out a phased plan that relieves the pressure, allows you to hand the hard parts over to me and finally have the freedom to focus on your next steps. I have found that once that trust is earned, my relationships with clients become lifelong, and I often find myself a part of the next steps, helping my clients to find and decorate their next homes, staging birthday parties for their one year old children, assisting with personal styling, and so much more.

Covid Update

Ever since the beginning of the pandemic, a large part of my business has seamlessly evolved to focus on photo styling, as our industry has seen a large shift toward "virtual viewings."  While relying 100% on photos first, actual staging of the home is imperative in order for the buyer to recognize the full potential  in each space. If a property is empty, it will be even more important to show the home with proper furniture that will delineate and define spaces, particularly in homes with an open-concept floor plan. I ensure that the photos give a true representation of the house at its best, so that there are no unpleasant surprises for the buyer.

Covid has also shown how important it is to have multi-functioning rooms for learning, working, exercising and Zoom calling. I am able to visualize my clients living with gracious ease in the evolving present situation, so I can help the homeowners visualize their home perfectly set up for their family's unique needs. And for home sellers, I can remove the stress by redefining conventional spaces for the unconventional life we are experiencing now.

I am available to assist and consult virtually, in order to keep contact minimal for the homeowner and the prospective buyer. Whatever your situation or budget, I look forward to reinvigorating your space and helping you (and your prospective buyer) see the home in its very best light.
